Foundation Design

For the majority of projects a 1m deep trench fill foundation is sufficient to safely transfer the loads from the building to the ground.

Some sites can be more problematic than others and can lead to increased groundwork costs coupled with prolonged periods of uncertainty.

You may have;

  • Unstable ground
  • Clay soil
  • Trees near your project
  • Sloping land
  • Made up ground
  • To satisfy Party Wall Act (if you are building within 3m)
  • A brownfield site

How We Work

Any ground condition can be solved. Conventional trench foundations start to become uneconomic below about 2m deep.

We focus on your project requirements and work with you to provide a cost effective solution, as efficiently as possible.

We provide a full consultancy service including ;

  • desk top studies
  • site investigations
  • geological and environmental analysis

for any type of foundation and substructure design.

What Is A Desk Top Study – Do I Need One?

Normally used on larger projects, a desk top study helps to identify potential geotechnical, environmental and ground engineering hazards at an early stage in your project.

Sometimes as a desk top study is required as part of the granting of planning permission.

How Can A Desk Top Study Help You?

Having a desk top study at the early stages of your project will allow you to understand the existing ground conditions and whether you have made up ground, or if the land is contaminated.

Your foundation design can then take this into account, minimising your risk of additional costs and can lead to economical design of foundations / geotechnical structures.

Your budget will be more accurate and also you will reduce the risk of delays on site.

High Level Of Service

“Michael Aubrey’s professionalism and the high level of service I received was great.

Without the load testing report we could not proceed with the project and Michael Aubrey’s availability and fast response in turning around our request was excellent.

I would recommend Michael Aubrey to colleagues and friends.”
